How It All Started
I still remember my first harvest - 22 years ago, helping my father pick maize on this very land. Back then, farming was just what our family did. Today, it's who I am. This shamba has fed three generations of Kamaus, and I'm proud to continue that tradition.
The Old Ways Are the Best Ways
My grandfather taught me to listen to the land. When the ants start building high mounds, we know the rains are coming. When the moon is bright, we plant our seeds. These are the secrets the land shares with those who take time to listen.
Growing with the Times
While we honor tradition, we also embrace new ideas that help us farm smarter. Rainwater harvesting, natural pest control, and crop rotation keep our soil healthy season after season. Good farming means leaving the land better than we found it.
This is a Family Affair
My wife Grace handles the dairy cows - she knows each one by name and personality. Our children help after school, learning the rhythms of the land just like I did. Even little Wanjiru, only six, can tell when a tomato is perfectly ripe!
Why We Do What We Do
For Our Community
Good food should be for everyone, not just those who can afford fancy prices.
For Our Land
We farm in a way that keeps our soil rich and our water clean for generations to come.
For Our Family
This land fed my grandparents, my parents, and now feeds my children. That legacy matters.
